The role

Reporting to the Head of Strategy, the Marketing & Events Coordinator will be responsible for dxw’s marketing, events and community management. The person in this role will take over existing responsibility for social media, blogging, and writing case studies and contributed articles from other members of the team. They will also be responsible for planning and running public events and will be an active, visible representative for dxw in the communities that form part of our market.

In all of these activities, the Marketing & Events Coordinator will be responsible for:

Helping us to win new, relevant business by further establishing dxw as a recognised, trusted supplier within the UK public sector
Helping us to recruit more easily by making dxw more visible and appealing to potential new staff
The successful candidate will probably have been in a communications or marketing role for several years. They will be an experienced and capable writer. They will be able to communicate and work well with technical staff, describing our capabilities and experience in ways everyone can understand. They may have worked for a small business before, or may have reached a point where the idea of a smaller organisation is appealing. They will have had experience working with clients in the public sector or in a public sector role, preferably on digital or technology related work. They will be keen to shape the structure of their role within dxw, refining it as the company’s needs evolve.

Marketing and social media

Most of dxw’s new business is generated via word of mouth and recommendations from past clients. We believe this will work more effectively if we regularly publish original content that is useful and interesting to our clients - and potential clients.

The Marketing & Events Coordinator will:

Write regular blog posts for the dxw blog, agreeing topics with the team
In collaboration with the rest of the team, monitor Twitter and other social media accounts, posting when able
Research and write short- and long-form articles and case studies on our work and topics of interest to our client base
Events and community

We have often observed that other suppliers have won new business and made new relationships by running relevant, interesting events. We would also like to use paid events as a mechanism to help our clients learn new skills and improve their organisations’ capabilities.

The Marketing & Events Coordinator will:

Plan, market and run interesting events
Attend relevant events run by third parties, representing dxw
Working with the team

The person in this role will spend a lot of time talking and writing about dxw, our capabilities, our vision and our achievements. As such, they will need to have a good understanding of our work, important milestones, experience and team.

The Marketing & Events Coordinator will:

Participate, as necessary, in project work, observing the team in action and getting first-hand experience of our work and clients
Keep in close touch with other members of the team about their work and upcoming projects
Delivery manage other staff who are contributing to marketing work (for example, blog posts, or helping plan events)

Skills & experience

This role has numerous components which overlap. It is likely that different tasks will compete for attention.

The person in this role must:

Have experience working with or in the public sector
Be comfortable in an agile environment
Have excellent written and spoken English
Have the ability to discuss and describe technology in simple, lay terms
Prioritise work effectively, choosing between competing options quickly and pragmatically
Communicate clearly and openly
Work effectively with modern cloud-based tools, including social media and CRM
Think and work strategically with strong problem-solving skills
