Food trends editor
The Grocer is no ordinary business magazine.
As the award-winning bible of the food and drink industry, we spot food trends before they hit the mainstream, tackle important topics such as health and obesity, and explain how consumers are affected by online shopping, advertising and supermarket price wars.
And we’re growing: on the back of our outstanding editorial, with our reputation for setting the agenda and breaking top exclusives ahead of the nationals, subscriptions are up and we’ve been developing new services to meet the needs of our loyal readership in a fast-evolving environment.
So how can you help? Our award-winning category insights desk is looking for a smart, data-savvy and digitally minded editor to help expand our coverage of the latest food and consumer trends.
You will be supporting the desk editor in writing and commissioning features about a huge range of food & drink categories, from confectionery to protein, using data journalism to spot trends, analyse sales and explain how and why the way we’re shopping for food is changing. Plus, you’ll be part of our award-winning series of digital features, using your video and social media skills to help us tell compelling stories about food online.
A love of food and drink is essential, and knowledge of/interest in retail, supermarkets, advertising, etc., are highly desirable. You’ll also need a decent head for figures, a journalist’s news instinct, an organized mind and appetite for hard work; great writing skills and a love of features. Above all, you need a willingness to learn (we pride ourselves on our hands-on training and feedback).
It's a high-pressure role, but for the right candidate, working on a very busy and vibrant title, it offers huge job satisfaction as well as a competitive salary and other benefits.
The Grocer is the flagship of the highly successful William Reed Business Media group, a family-owned publishing, events and market research business, whose interests include operations in the UK, the US and France.
We’re based near Crawley, 30 minutes from Brighton and 10 mins from Gatwick and its connections to Victoria, London Bridge, and the world (recent foreign travel assignments have included cocoa growers in India, a New York retail conference, Caribbean rum production and awards judging in Paris).
